Afterwards, we continue our leisurely journey to the hotel where we will be treated to mince pies and mulled wine on arrival. After you’ve had chance to settle in, there will be entertainment provided at the hotel this evening.
Day 2 – After breakfast we travel to Canterbury for free time. Made famous by Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, this university city boasts some of England’s finest Medieval architecture, including one of its oldest and most magnificent Cathedrals – today we have even included admission into Canterbury Cathedral, seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury and the centre point of any visit to Canterbury. The Cathedral dates back to 597AD and is now a part of Canterbury’s World Heritage Site. It remains one of the most visited places in the country and today you are welcome to attend one of the special Christmas “Sung Eucharist” services before exploring this enchanting city for yourself. Entertainment will be provided at the hotel again tonight, and later this evening you will also have the opportunity to attend Midnight Mass* with a hot chocolate served on our return to the hotel. (*This is an optional excursion).
Day 3 – Celebrate Christmas day in the warmth and comfort of the hotel. Our Christmas package today includes; a 3-course Christmas Day lunch, a light buffet and entertainment.
Day 4 – Today we enjoy a scenic drive along the coast as we travel to Herne’s Bay. This traditional and friendly seaside town has Christmas all wrapped up with many events happening across the town and along its traditional Pier. After a little free time, we take you to nearby Whitstable. Perhaps enjoy a wander around the bohemian town centre with independent craft and gift shops, galleries, delicatessens and fashion shops.
Day 5 – After breakfast we visit St Augustine’s Abbey, situated just outside the city walls this impressive abbey is now apart of the Canterbury World Heritage Site and should not be missed! This great Abbey, marking the rebirth of Christianity in southern England was originally founded by St. Augustine in 598AD. After a little time to explore, perhaps head back into Canterbury before we return home.
