Canal Festival Amsterdam

4 DAYS

The magnificent ‘Grachtenfestival’ Canal Festival is the largest classical music festival in the Netherlands and is one of Amsterdam’s summer cultural highlights. The twinkling canals in the centre of Amsterdam form the perfect backdrop for performers of classic music who come from all over the world to perform either by the canal or on the water.

DURING YOUR STAY

Day 1 – After an early start, we travel to the Golden Tulip Hotel in Zevenbergen.
Day 2 –
Enjoy free time in Amsterdam to experience the Canal Festival! Perhaps find a spot in a nearby café and listen in awe, as the concerts are performed on stages around the city and even on the water, as the musicians stand on pontons.

Pre-bookable tickets are available today to some of Amsterdam’s most popular museums – please enquire at the time of booking.

Day 3 – Today we visit Giethoorn, an historic little town in the Netherlands nestled amongst a never-ending series of canals and waterways. The best way to explore most of this village is by boat (the postman still delivers mail to local residences by boat), that’s why we’ve included a canal cruise. Enjoy the views of thatched-roof cottages as you gentle glide along Giethoorn’s picturesque canals. Afterwards, explore the rest of Giethoorn at your own pace. Perhaps take a leisurely stroll along the village bridges, overlooking stunning farmhouses. Or, visit the Museum De Oude Aarde in the heart of town – home to the oldest museum in Giethoorn.
Day 4 – We retrace our steps returning back home.
