DURING YOUR STAY
Day 1 – We travel to our first overnight hotel for one night, with comfort stops along the way.
Day 2 – We set sail to the Isle of Arran, often referred to as “Scotland in Miniature”. Arran is home to dramatic mountain peaks, sheltered beaches and verdant forests. After some free time in Brodick, the island’s main town, we board our coach for a tour of this fascinating island taking in the coastal communities of Lamlash, Whiting Bay and Blackwaterfoot. Later this afternoon we board the ferry to the Mull of Kintyre and drive along Loch Fyne to our next hotel where we will enjoy two nights.
Day 3 – Today we visit a stunning island on the ‘whisky coast’ of west Scotland, the Isle of Islay. Best known for its peaty, smoky whiskies, some say they are the best in the whole world! We will visit Bowmore, the island’s capital for free time. The town is home to the unique Bowmore Round Church, built in a circular shape so spirits couldn’t hide in the corners. We also experience spirits of another kind today as we include a whiskey distillery tour and tasting. Later, we catch the ferry back to mainland with dinner served on board before a late arrival back to our hotel.
Day 4 – Sit back and relax this morning with a scenic drive through the Highland countryside. Passing via Inverary and Loch Awe we reach Oban, where we will enjoy free time. Continuing via Fort William and the ‘Road to the Isles’ we visit the Glenfinnan Monument – a moving tribute to those who died fighting the Jacobite cause, located at the head of Loch Sheil – for a short photo opportunity. Then, we’ll board the ferry from Mallaig to take us ‘over the sea to Skye’ and our next hotel. We’ll spend another two nights here.
Day 5 – We will explore the Isle of Skye today. The largest of the Inner Hebrides is home to some of Scotland’s most iconic landscapes. We will visit Portree, the main town that is set around a natural harbor and fringed by towering sea cliffs. Also included is admission to Dunvegan Castle, which is built on a rock in an idyllic loch side setting. Dunvegan is the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland and has been the home of the MacLeod Clan for 800 years.
Day 6 – After breakfast we leave Skye behind and travel through Glen Shiel past the Five Sisters of Kintal mountains towering above and along the Great Glen to Fort William, where we make a lunchtime stop. From there we drive through Glencoe to the ‘Bonnie Banks of Loch Lomond’, Queen of Scottish Lochs and to our final overnight in the Trossachs.
Day 7 – After an amazing trip filled with lots of incredible sights, we travel home.
