DURING YOUR STAY
Day 1 – This morning we visit historic Worcester for free time. The city is best known for its magnificent Cathedral, which rises majestically above the city. This afternoon we continue to our hotel.
Day 2 – After breakfast we visit Sudeley Castle & Gardens – the only private castle in England to have a queen buried within its grounds – the last of Henry VIII’s six wives, Catherine Parr. Located in the heart of the Cotswolds, the castle is surrounded by a breathtaking 1,200 acres estate and ten award-winning gardens. The centrepiece is the Queens Garden, so named because four of England’s queen’s; Anne Boleyn, Catherine Parr, Lady Jane Grey and Elizabeth I once walked upon the original Tudor Parterre. Afterwards, enjoy a relaxing afternoon at leisure back at the hotel.
Day 3 – This afternoon we visit the National Trust’s Tredegar House, one of the most significant late 17th Century houses in the British Isles. Situated in 90-acres of beautiful gardens and parklands, this delightful red brick house was the ancestral home of nobility for more than 500 years.
Day 4 – Today we travel to Gloucester, where we will enjoy a leisurely cruise on the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal. Discover the history of the canal while relaxing on board the Queen Boadicea II, which helped evacuate troops from the beaches of Dunkirk in May 1940. Later, we visit the National Trust’s Hidcote Manor Gardens where we spend the rest of the day. Created by the talented American horticulturist, Major Lawrence Johnston it is one of the greatest gardens in the country! Explore the maze of narrow paved pathways and discover secret gardens, magnificent vistas and plants that burst with colour.
Day 5 – After an enjoyable stay (and another hearty breakfast) we return home.
