Day 5 – After breakfast we visit the hilltop town of Guadalest, occupying one of the most stunning positions in Spain it has been declared a ‘Monument of Historical and Artistic value.’ Surrounded by grand Aitana and Serella mountains the town gives magnificent views across the valley. Spend your time browsing the shops, museums or explore the town’s old town and castle ruins accessible through a tunnel carved from the rock that transports you back in time.
Day 6 – We have planned an excursion to Valencia; few cities are able to harmoniously combine an exquisite, charming past dating to 138BC with avant-garde buildings from the new millennium. Afterwards we visit the Lladro porcelain factory, the perfect opportunity to buy gifts and souvenirs.
Day 7 – Full day to explore Alicante, this attractive city holds a treasure trove of Spanish culture and historical sights. You don’t want to miss strolling through the old town and climbing to the castle of Santa Barbara where you can enjoy stunning views of the city. Or visit St Mary’s church, built over three centuries ago.
Day 8 – Spend the morning in the largest street market in the Costa Brava, held in Altea near the new town. Look out for costume jewellery, hand-embroidered tablecloths, Spanish pottery and everything in-between! This afternoon enjoy the delights of the picturesque old town.
Day 9 – Enjoy a relaxing day at leisure to soak up the last of the sunshine!
Day 10-12 – We retrace our footsteps back through Europe towards our overnight hotels and then drive home.
