DUBLIN
(FULL DAY) - Adventure awaits with a visit to Dublin! Famous for its cultural heritage and charming hospitality, explore Dublin's streets packed with historic buildings, cafés and traditional pubs. Some highlights include Trinity College - the oldest University in Ireland - The Irish Emigration Museum, The Little Museum of Dublin and the iconic Guinness Storehouse.
BELVEDERE CASTLE
& GARDENS (HALF DAY) - Surrounded by parkland, discover this lakeside mansion with a dark history. This magnificent 160-acre estate boasts a fully restored Georgian Villa and a Victorian Walled Garden and is home to one of Ireland's finest collections of rare plants. This afternoon we return to our idyllic hotel; enjoy a relaxing walk in the gardens, unwind in the sauna and steam rooms, or treat yourself to some pampering at the spa (bookable locally, subject to availability).
STROKESTOWN
(HALF DAY) - The town was planned and laid out to centre on a broad avenue leading up to Strokestown Park House. The Mahon carried out regular building projects on the house during their sustained landlord patronage, which, alongside domestic servants, provided a steady source of employment for local people. Explore the parallel lives of Strokestown Park’s aristocratic landlords and their tenants during the Great Irish Famine at our state-of-the-art National Famine Museum.
ATHLONE
& GALWAY (FULL DAY) - Athlone, commonly known as the 'Gateway to the West', is a historic village home to the Athlone Castle. This major attraction features a Visitor Centre and the Luan Art Gallery. We also visit Galway, internationally known for its cobbled streets that make you feel like you have returned in time! This charming city combines the best of coastal and cosmopolitan with a beautiful selection of restaurants, markets and traditional pubs.
PLEASE NOTE
(August departure only) On the last day of your holiday, the return ferry sailing from Dublin to Holyhead departs at 08.05h. An early departure from the hotel (approximately 05.30h), means that we should arrive back in the Midlands in good time (by late afternoon). Due to the early departure and the hotel not offering breakfast at that time, we will arrange for a breakfast bag that you can take with you when we leave.
The Bloomfield House Hotel, Leisure Club & Spa is in the heart of the beautiful Westmeath Lakelands of central Ireland. Perched in an idyllic setting overlooking Lough Ennell, the Irish, family-owned hotel is nestled in rolling countryside amidst acres of rich parkland and lofty trees, close to culture, history and the ancient myths of Co. Westmeath.
