Day 2
We continue over the border into Italy and to the Grand Hotel in Riva del Garda. On arrival here, there will be a welcome drink to enjoy.
Day 3
Our first day will see us enjoy a leisurely start followed by a lake cruise journey to Limone. This town was once renowned for growing lemons and other citrus fruits; you'll find the heart of the old town in Porto Vecchio, the harbour. From here, explore narrow lanes lined with shops, waterfront terraces and plenty of places to eat. We will return to our hotel this evening.
Day 4
Discover the resort of beautiful Riva del Garda, a bustling town found at the northern point of Lake Garda. Flanked by mountains, you'll find a charming place to relax with a lakeside harbour, park & beach. A host of cafes, bars and restaurants are perfect for you to indulge in local cuisine. The rest of the town is just a short walk away from your hotel, just waiting for you to explore.
Day 5
After breakfast, we travel to the medieval city of Verona, home to Romeo & Juliet. Spend your day exploring the remarkable sights including the legendary balcony, the magnificent Piazza Bra and its incredible Roman amphitheatre or enjoy a little shopping in the Via Mazzini. This World Heritage site is the place to explore thousands of years of Italian history.
Day 6
Another day at your leisure or alternatively, join us for an optional excursion to ancient Venice, the City of Water. Our day includes a walking tour with a local guide and boat transfers into the city. Explore the incredible architecture and history by visiting the splendid Piazza San Marco, the world-renowned Grand Canal thoroughfare and the Bridge of Sighs.
Day 7
Today, we explore the western shores of Lake Garda; places include Malcesine, an attractive town with a harbour and 13th-century castle. Located on the eastern shore of Lake Garda in the shadow of Monte Baldo, explore picturesque medieval lanes that wind from the lake and pretty squares lined with shops, cafés and restaurants. We also visit Sirmione, a beautifully-preserved town with an imposing turreted 13th-century castle. This maze of narrow, cobbled streets built on a peninsula make it a popular place for celebrities to live. Back at the hotel, a traditional farewell dinner will be served this evening.
Day 8
We return through France and to our overnight hotel.
Day 9
We retrace our footsteps home.
