Day 4 – We travel to Ascona and Locarno, which are located on the shores of Lake Maggiore. Ascona is renowned for its Mediterranean-style architecture and café-lined promenade, whilst Locarno is acclaimed to have the warmest climate in Switzerland.

Day 5 – Join us today for an optional excursion to Isola Bella with entrance to the Borromean Palace*. Arriving in Stresa, we catch a boat across to Isola Bella, perhaps one of the most admired destinations on Lake Maggiore. Isola Bella is dominated by its stunning Baroque palace, with luxuriant Italian-style garden. A stroll through the gardens will lead you to the amphitheatre, an elaborate construction on three levels with walls decorated with stones and tuff, dotted about are tasteful niches, reliefs and statues representing the triumph of the Borromeo family. From here you can walk to the upper terrace, which boasts a magnificent panoramic view of the mountains surrounding the gulf.

Day 6 – We visit Milan, a city with an influential past and a rich cultural heritage. At the heart of the historic centre is Milan’s Piazza del Duomo, home to the most famous monument in Milan, the Duomo Cathedral. As well as being the largest cathedral in the world, this was also the place where Napoleon was crowned the “Emperor of the French and King of Italy” in 1805. Other points of interest include La Scala Opera and Santa Maria delle Grazie, home to Da Vinci’s “Last Supper”.

Day 7 – We leave our resort and return to our overnight hotel.

Day 8 – We continue home.
