Excursions to Gretna Green, Edinburgh & Stirling

Day 1 – This morning we travel to Gretna Green, hailed as “The Gateway to Scotland” and famous for being the marriage capital of the UK, here you will have a couple of hours to explore the famous Blacksmiths Shop, Scottish Gifts and Smiths at Gretna Green before we continue to our hotel in Aberfoyle.

Day 2 – Our first stop today is in the “auld grey toun” of Dunfermline! This large town in Fife was once the capital of Scotland and the royal and monastic past dominates the town. There are a wide number of historical venues such as the royal palace, a 12th century abbey (which is the final resting place of Robert the Bruce and the burial site of 11 other Scottish kings and queens) and the restored 15th century Abbot House. After a little free time, this afternoon we visit Stirling. The bustling modern city centre boasts some of the finest historic buildings and beautifully preserved Medieval and Renaissance churches in Scotland.

Day 3 – After breakfast we enjoy free time in Edinburgh, Scotland’s cosmopolitan capital city, before travelling home.
