DURING YOUR STAY
Day 1 – We journey to our overnight hotel with comfort breaks along the way.
Day 2 – This morning we visit Blair Castle, the ancient seat of the Dukes and Earls of Atholl, and home to Europe’s last remaining private army, the Atholl Highlanders. There are over 30 rooms for you to explore, including the Victorian Ballroom which is decorated in 175 pairs of antlers, and the Entrance Hall which features weapons used at the Battle of Culloden. After some free time, our experienced driver will take us on a scenic drive through Cairngorms National Park – situated in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, sit back and enjoy its spectacular scenery, towering mountains and sparkling lochs from the comfort of our coach as we travel to our hotel in Beauly.
Day 3 – A full day at leisure today - C'est un beau lieu', from the french what a beautiful place, was Mary Queen of Scots reaction to the grandeur of the scene when she stayed in Beauly in the 16th century. You may like to browse around the small collection of shops around the town square or wander further afield for a stroll by the River Beauly, renowned for its wild salmon.
Day 4 – Enjoy a cruise along the majestic Caledonian Canal and on to the world-famous waters of Loch Ness. Here, you will be treated to panoramic views of the Highlands, Aldourie Castle and Bona Lighthouse, built almost 200 years ago. Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for the elusive Nessie! Later we disembark at Urquhart Castle, with admission included. Offering wild natural beauty and 1,000 years of history – Urquhart Castle offers a taste of the Highlands at their most dramatic.
Day 5 – After breakfast we visit the Highland capital of Inverness, where as well as free time to explore, we also include a scenic cruise on the Moray Firth during which keep your eyes peeled for pods of wild dolphins from the comfort of the covered passenger vessel offering easy access for all and a specialist guide on board giving a full commentary.
Day 6 – We begin our journey south to our overnight hotel staying in the Scottish Borders.
Day 7 – We retrace our footsteps home.
