DURING YOUR STAY
Day 1 – We travel to the traditional market town of Shrewsbury before continuing to our hotel later this afternoon. Welcome tea or coffee will be served on arrival.
Day 2 – This morning we travel through the beautiful Welsh countryside via Betws-y-Coed, often referred to as ‘Little Switzerland’ to Llanuwchllyn, where we have arranged a journey on the Bala Lake Railway. This narrow‐gauge steam railway which runs alongside Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake), hauled by a historic Welsh steam locomotive, enjoys excellent views of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park.
Day 3 – Enjoy a day at leisure. After breakfast perhaps take the opportunity to ascend mighty Snowdon on the famous mountain railway which departs from the station just a couple of minutes walking distance from our hotel (optional extra at the time of booking £30 pp NB. This return fare is on the traditional diesel locomotive service)
Day 4 – Our first stop today is in historic Caernarfon, home to one of the most famous Castles in Wales; Caernarfon Castle (entry not included). After a little free time, and perhaps a quick refreshment, we travel over the Menai Straights, towards the impressive Beaumaris Castle where we enjoy a short photo stop. Built in 1295, and although unfinished, Beaumaris Castle is regarded as one of the finest Edwardian castles. Next, we join our cruise over to Puffin Island – home to many species of birds and wildlife. This leisurely cruise will take us around the entire island, with live commentary and local history along the way. Keep your eyes peeled though, and you might be lucky enough to spot one of the resident puffins, grey seals and bottlenose dolphins*!
Day 5 – We retrace out footsteps home.
