DURING YOUR STAY
Day 1 – We drive north calling for a visit to Holmfirth, better known as the location for the popular BBC TV series ‘Last of the Summer Wine’. Join the thousands of fans who make the journey every year to visit such locations as Sid's Cafe and Nora Batty’s Steps! From here we continue to our Harrogate Hotel.
Day 2 – Enjoy the morning at leisure in the Victorian spa town of Harrogate, with its handsome historic buildings. You might like to take the opportunity to visit the famous Betty’s Tearoom, which has held pride of place in the town for over 100 years and continues to attract visitors from far and near to sample the delicious treats on offer. This afternoon we board the coach with picnics in hand (supplied by the hotel) and head off for the highlight of our weekend, the Castle Howard annual Proms event. The packed concert programme will include popular classics, songs from musicals and all our flag waving favourites from the Proms. As this is an outdoor event, we advise you dress appropriately with appropriate footwear as the concert will go ahead in most weather conditions. NB. Seating is not provided, and you will therefore be allowed to bring 1 compact folding seat per person for this purpose.
Day 3 – We travel to the beautiful city of York for a little free time before returning home. Enjoy a wander along the cobbled streets, perhaps visit York’s Chocolate Story and pick up some of York’s most famous chocolate! The magnificent minister, castle, dungeons and city walls are all popular attractions.
