Day 1
We head to Dover for our ferry crossing across the English Channel. Upon our arrival in France, we continue into Belgium to our hotel in the heart of the historic Flemish city of Mechelen.
DDay 2
After breakfast, we cross the border into The Netherlands and travel to Zundert, a picturesque village for their famous annual Dahlia Parade. Created by an army of volunteers each year, this tradition dates back to 1936 and has been handed down from generation to generation. We spend our morning amidst a fabulous carnival atmosphere, where you can explore the town and enjoy the live music, street theatre and performers found throughout. You can also browse the local markets before taking your grandstand seats for the best view of dazzling flower parade this afternoon. Delight in the colourful, florally decorated giant floats as they pass down the main streets of the town, stopping for a break for visitors to inspect and admire them before resuming their route and the award ceremony for the best display.
B, DDay 3
This morning, we will visit the vibrant and fashionable city of Antwerp, where you can explore a variety of attractions, from fascinating museums to stunning architecture, as well as a world-class selection of shopping opportunities, all set amidst charming cobbled streets. Antwerp is also the former home of the seventeenth-century artist Peter Paul Rubens. You can visit his house, where he painted many of his masterpieces; it now showcases his paintings, sculptures, and tapestries. Mid-afternoon, we will return to Mechelen, where you can enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure. Take a stroll through the cosy streets lined with historic Flemish buildings, featuring beautiful baroque façades, and don’t miss the iconic St. Rumbold’s Cathedral.
B, DDay 4
After this monumental trip, we visit a Belgian Chocolatier before continuing on our journey home.
