Day 1
We catch the afternoon ferry from Holyhead to Dublin, reaching our hotel this evening for dinner.
Day 2
Adventure awaits with a visit to Dublin! Famous for its cultural heritage and charming hospitality, explore Dublin's streets packed with historic buildings, cafés and traditional pubs. Some highlights include Trinity College, the oldest University in Ireland, the Irish Emigration Museum, the National Leprechaun Museum, Ha'penny Bridge, St Patrick's Cathedral and the iconic Guinness Storehouse.
Day 3
This morning, we visit Causey Farm in neighbouring County Meath to experience the very best of Irish hospitality. Enjoy an authentic taste of life on a traditional working farm, getting up close to the animals and taking part in a range of engaging activities, including sheepdog demonstrations, a Bodhrán (Irish drum) workshop, a tractor and trailer bog ride, and even the chance to learn a traditional Irish dance. This afternoon, we return to our idyllic hotel; why not take the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing walk in the gardens, unwind in the sauna and steam rooms, or treat yourself to some pampering at the spa (bookable locally, subject to availability)? For those looking to explore the surrounding areas, a trip to nearby Mullingar, a traditional market town home to various shopping opportunities, or neighbouring Belvedere House Gardens are local highlights.
Day 4
After a morning at leisure, we head to Strokestown Park Manor this afternoon. One of Ireland's most splendid Palladian country houses, where you can explore picturesque woodlands, formal gardens, and the estate's award-winning National Famine Museum, which dramatically brings that tragic period to Irish life.
Day 5
After breakfast, we head to Lough Ree to board a Viking boat along the River Shannon. Complete with fascinating commentary, we travel through the Irish heartland to Athlone. Commonly known as the 'Gateway to the West', this historic village is home to Athlone Castle and a one-thousand-year-old pub - the oldest in Europe. We also visit Galway, internationally known for its labyrinth of cobbled streets that make you feel like you have returned in time! This charming city combines the best of coastal and cosmopolitan with a beautiful selection of restaurants, markets and traditional pubs.
Day 6
After checkout this morning, we visit Ireland's oldest seaside town of Bray. Whether you're looking for scenic views of the Irish Sea and the Wicklow Mountains or indulging in the lively cultural scene, Bray has something for everyone. Around midday, we continue our journey home via this afternoon's ferry.
The Bloomfield House Hotel, Leisure Club & Spa is in the heart of the beautiful Westmeath Lakelands. Perched in an idyllic setting overlooking Lough Ennell, this family-owned hotel is nestled in rolling countryside amidst acres of rich parkland and lofty trees, close to culture, history and the ancient myths of Co. Westmeath.
