We travel north with a stop in Skipton, a rich market town boasting a castle and the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. This afternoon, we continue to our hotel in Windermere.
DDay 2
Our first day includes a tour of the northern Lake District from the comfort of our coach; sit back and relax as we travel to charming Ambleside, found on the northern shores of Lake Windermere. After free time to explore, we continue along Lake Thirlmere to Keswick, a popular market town, situated between the huge bulk of Skiddaw and the gentle beauty of Derwentwater. Our return journey takes us past immense rugged mountains, lakes and villages, past the tranquil waters of Ullswater and over the magnificent Kirkstone Pass.
B, DDay 3
After breakfast, we travel through Newby Bridge and towards Coniston Water. Here, we include a unique journey on a restored Victorian steam-powered yacht, now operated by the National Trust. Experience the thrill of sailing on a historic vessel, taking in the stunning views of the lake and its surroundings. We return to our hotel via the shores of Lake Windermere for an afternoon at leisure. Here, you can enjoy use of the hotel's leisure facilities, or alternatively, you can travel the short distance into the market town of Kendal, famous for its Mint Cake and known as the southern gateway to the Lake District.
B, DDay 4
After a leisurely morning, we include an afternoon excursion to Bowness on Windermere. Nestled on the fringes of England's largest and most impressive lake, why not board one of the stunningly scenic boat trips or visit the award-winning World of Beatrix Potter attraction, where you can relive childhood memories as the author's magical tales of Peter Rabbit and his friends are brought to life?
B, DDay 5
We return home today, driving through the scenic sights of the Peak District enroute.
