Day 1
After departures, we travel north and over the Scottish border for a visit to the vibrant market town of Moffat. After taking some time to explore, we continue to our hotel located in Aberfoyle.
DDay 2
This morning, we drive along the 'Bonnie Banks' of Loch Lomond to the picturesque village of Luss. Sitting on the western shores of Loch Lomond, it is most famous for appearing as a backdrop in the Scottish soap opera 'Take the High Road'. We also take to the water itself with a circular cruise to enjoy the scenery from a different view, accompanied by tea, coffee, and Scottish shortbread onboard, plus an informative commentary that keeps us entertained along the way. Our final stop of the day is Loch Lomond Shores, an award-winning shopping and visitor destination. A converted waterside mill, it offers a cosmopolitan collection of shops and attractions overlooking the famous loch, including a Sea Life Aquarium and Bird of Prey Centre.
B, DDay 3
Enjoy free time to explore Aberfoyle today. This charming village is set on the banks of the River Forth in the magnificent Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. Perhaps wander along its attractive main street, jam-packed with individual shops, cafés and restaurants or visit the Trossachs Discovery Centre, where you can learn more about the area's natural beauty and history.
B, DDay 4
Join us for a 'Taste of the Trossachs' and explore Scotland's first national park on our tour. Located between the lowlands and highlands, immerse yourself in an area of varied landscapes that encompass rolling hills, tranquil lochs, and rugged mountains. Our scenic journey takes us over Dukes Pass, along the banks of Loch Achray and Loch Venachar, through the village of Brig o'Turk, and on to Callander. This bustling market town and tourist hub is set dramatically beneath high, wooded crags; Callander gained fame as the location for the original Dr Findlay's Casebook TV series. After our visit, we continue to Stirling. This beautiful, historic city is excellent for learning about Scotland's impressive past. Explore Stirling's spectacular cliff-top castle, with its Royal Palace, Chapel Royal and Regimental Museum.
B, DDay 5
We check out and start our return home via a visit to the award-winning Falkirk Wheel, the world's only rotating boat lift and an engineering masterpiece! Here, we include a trip aboard a canal boat, with the wheel itself soaring thirty-five metres into the air, before a return journey along the aqueduct to the Union Canal. From here, we continue back over the border into England and continue home.
